Profile
Hi! — I’m Anna McGrew, aka pobrecitats, and I am a tattoo artist in Oakland, CA. I’ve been creating art since I was a toddler, sitting in on my mom’s college art classes.
Becoming a tattoo artist and channeling my artworks onto skin was the best decision I ever made. Tattooing is an ancient practice, predating civilization, and I feel so honored to be a part of a historical practice of such magnitude. My clients mean so much to me, and each session we have is magic.
The name pobrecitats was inspired by my grandmother. If you don’t come from some semblance of a Latin American household, it is derived from pobrecita/o meaning poor baby, most commonly used (at least by my grandmother) sarcastically, when myself and all my cousins complained or cried about anything (which happened a lot). My grandmother is originally from Guatemala, she, my mother, and our heritage are a huge inspiration to my artwork.
I would love to work with you on your next piece! Click the link at the top of the page to connect.
